Is it possible to love without liking

If one likes someone, and doing something that is good brings about pain to the one who is liked, then the one who is doing good should not relent in doing what is good.

If the good that one wants to do to the person who is liked would bring pain, then one may relent in doing what is good to them or for them. Conversely, if someone is not liked or loved, and doing something good to them or for them might bring them some pleasure, then one might hesitate, or not do something good at all. To answer the question, it is possible to simply love, regardless of the emotion involved. Love should not be linked to an emotion. Anonymous loving and liking are not the same thing.

Liking is not required for loving. I like flowers, dogs, pizza and ice cream. I love God, my neighbor, and my children because they are created in His image.

You don't have to like someone to love them. He did not expect us to like them or what they do to do us. It is possible according to Him, but that does not mean its easy, especially when someone is not right toward you.

In response to your exact question, yes it is possible, because the LORD wants us to love others, but it's not easy. We can love someone without liking them. Liking them momentarily, or perpetually. It still does deter us from loving someone. This is primarily because you do not usually choose the people whom you truly love. Of course, you take routes and you choose paths that will allow you to love someone. That happens, many times. However, there are times when you do not make any effort to love someone and you just inevitably do.

When the person is miles and miles away, yet you still think of them often. The love never stopped. How can such occasions arise? More often than not, we fail as great human beings. And there is just at least a little bit of ugly in every one of us.

Disappointment happens a lot because there were expectations that were not met. Therefore expectation can be the indirect cause of not being able to like someone while simultaneously loving them. But then again, honestly, that expectation had always been there. It was the mistake and failure to meet that expectation that led to the dislike and lack of affinity.

You might like someone while loving them, you might dislike someone while loving them, you might like someone while not loving them, and of course you might dislike someone while not loving them as well. If you know you need to forgive, but you know that your heart is not ready, here's where you can start. Beating yourself up for something God has already forgiven does not make you more holy.

It just makes you miserable. Search Site Menu. To me love has a reason and like is natural. Eg I love my wife or my girl because she is beautiful. Or educated. But like is something that you see or hear if even you will not gate it but inside you. You like it good or bad. Love and like, are inseparable. One is the building block for other. Well, I also knew what you know about and held to what you believe in love, but my understanding of love and like, and loving someone and liking someone has changed after listening to a song on radio.

Yes, we must love and God says we must even love our enemies. So, I ask, can or will you marry your enemy, I mean your enemy? I hope, no. Love to me is a basic thing a person has to have or inculcate in life, and God demands that, as human, you must love your neighbour or every human being no matter the relationship between you and that person.

If we marry base on love, why did God said, a husband must love her wife and a wife must be submissive to her husband? Are we saying that it is only the man who is to love but the woman is not supposed to love but instead be submissive? Why because love is a basic thing every human being must have and because the general law says, love your neighbour, the wife has gotten her instruction to love her husband already. So before you will marry anyone, you already have the love for him or her because of the law to love your neighbour as yourself.

Who will marry her enemy? If it is true what people say that they marry people because they love them or they love themselves, then how come sometimes people will or can kill their wives or husbands, somebody they love? Does love kills? Tell me, does love kills? Love does and can not kill. Beloved, think about this again. To me, love is the pivot on which everything we do under this sun rotates, especially when it comes to relationship but LIKE is what keeps a relationship tight and strong and lasting so we call it Unconditional Love or Agape Love.

If we say, we marry base on love, then another question is, can you marry your father or mother or sister or your brother because God says, we must love all these people? Like, and not love, is what we use to marry someone and not love. So where is the love we are talking about here? Yes, the love is there but the absence of the like, can lead to a broken marriage or unpeaceful or unhappy relations.
