You give people a fair go here and you'll be treated well. So, come to Tregear if you aren't judgemental about poor people or those who have had rough lives, and you will find it a comfortable suburb full of good and interesting sorts. I think your review is wonderful. I once had a home for sale in Tregear I was working a long way out of the area at the time it was the 1st time id ever heard of the suburb or visited and But what you have reviewed here are not the streets ,the houses, the shops, as everyone else seems to talk about in any review of any suburb on here What you have done is reviewed the people, and what you have taught me is that if you look deeper there is good in every corner of the world even if it appears a bit rough on 1st inspection.
I sincerely commend you on this review it is now one of my favourites. Hi, I grew up in the tregear area and while it was nice and very accepting socially, I dont think its okay to label people as fancy pants or assume people who live there hate poor people? Isnt that slightly ironic considering you obviously value acceptance? And yet you are not very fond of these people you have most likely never mingled with. I moved to the eastern suburbs about 2 years ago and have felt just as welcomed by the community as I did in Tregear.
As well as this I have found most all people very humble - most, if not all of the people living in the East that I know are not actually old money - just like myself, they have worked very hard to get where they are. So frankly, it is downright offensive and even ridiculous to be labeled as such.
If anyone, I would understand the meaning of gratitude as I have worked so hard to get where I am. It is not fair or possible to label and make assumptions about a place you have never lived. I dont understand why some people are so hateful. This comment section is filled with comments like this. Tregear is about forty to fifty minutes' drive west from Sydney via the M4 motorway. There are many houses around this area but they are a mix of private owned and public housing.
I used to work around here and never had a good impression of this place. This was because, I often encounter police cars parked outside the houses and the cops used to raid the houses around here. There is a small shopping complex with a supermarket, fruit market, shops and cafe. Apart from this, there is nothing much to do. The next major centre is located in Mount Duitt, which is about a ten minutes' drive away. I would not recommend living around this area if you can avoid it.
Ruby did you ever think that the reason the Police are outside someones house would be because they are cleaning the area up. Police outside peoples houses happens all over Sydney and I dare say more in other suburbs than Tregear. You say you used to work here? What you probably meant was you have passed through here before, the shopping centre is actually a very popular and safe place to shop, there is also a new shopping complex just 2 minutes away at Ropes Crossing with a Coles supermarket.
You can catch public transport easily to anywhere you want to go, we have approx 30 schools in the area to choose from, we have ample open spaces for kids to play or to take the dog for some exercise, we have movie cinemas, sports fields everywhere, countless clubs and pubs with entertainment, I could go on and on.
Where elsein suburban Sydney will you find this. You say you recommend avoiding this area, wewould like you to avoid it as well we dont want narrow minded people here. We accept anyone that wants to be part of our community and we as neighbours help and support these people.
I have been living in Newport on the northern Beaches Peninsula for 8 years now and I have never seen the police there needing to clean the area up by raiding houses. It was mentioned that is happens more in other areas than in Tregear, perhaps be bit more specific.
Hi Danielm39, these people really hate outsiders dont they? They seem to think everyone is snobby and rich and has no values. The other suburbs are not the ones with countless amounts of crime every year and although you keep denying the crime going on, you cant deny the statistics!
